#UntrackMe 2.0 will be available soon.
Fully rebuilt with a new approach: the app now registers as a browser on Android 12+. Every link you tap goes through UntrackMe first, gets cleaned of tracking params, redirected to a privacy-friendly frontend if relevant, then handed off to the browser or app of your choice.
It also follows redirect chains to bypass tracking shorteners and unwrap any wrappers such as Google redirects.
The next #Holos release will support reactions. Long press the like button to pick one. It will be compatible with other software that supports reactions like Pleroma, Akkoma, Misskey, Sharkey, and Firefish. Can be disabled in settings.

I’m for digital commons. Meaning that I believe in shared governance. By design, a company has to make money, and its governance is driven by this goal.
We already saw a lot of companies, which were exactly what you describe ("developers set up so they could earn a living while they worked on the free software"), taking a project lead and becoming basically project owner. From that, it’s easy to become Oracle/Apache/RedHat and mute community voice.
It’s easy to spit on "foundation administration", but a common healthy governance needs a structure. Maybe the current one is not the best, but we should work on allowing users to have an impact on the project, and I think it’s on the right track.
Meritocracy is shit. People allowed to decide software milestone/direction should also be people that don’t contribute at all to it.
Our sense of meritocracy
A project that confuses meritocracy with the dominance of a single type of contributor fails to live up to its own values. And a project that bends to the interests of some contributors, at the expense of future generations, is a form of appropriation masked by the language of fairness.
Meritocracy is a complex, multifaceted concept that is worth grappling with in order to build something that future generations will be happy to inherit.

For the record: I firmly believe than meritocracy do not exist, but I agree with the substance of the text

Kicking out corporation is always a good move #changemymind
Ideally, we would have preferred to avoid this post. However, the articles and comments published in response to Collabora’s and Michael Meeks’ biased posts compel us to provide this background information on the events that led to the current situation.

@libreoffice Good! Getting rid of corporate influence in your org is the way to go however painful it might seem.
Oracle promised to keep developing MySQL when they took over. Instead, MySQL has been slowly dying ever since because Oracle wants to sell their main product.
Red Hat promised to leave CentOS alone. They killed CentOS immediately. It's pretty tricky to be more evil than Oracle, but they managed somehow.
Corporate rot forced the Firefox team to abandon privacy guarantees.

F-Droid is an App Store that does not allow developers to sign their own apps and now complains about Google enforcing developers developer identification.
If you want freedom then install GrapheneOS or any other AOSP distribution and install apks build by developers, use Obtainium, build them yourself or use Accrescent.
this is toxicity

L’interview d’Emmodem qui passe sur FranceInfo ! Nice 😀
This was initially a followers-only thread, but that prevents any interaction between users. So here it is publicly.
I've decided to close the Fedilab Open Collective account, and I want to be transparent about why. I'm a solo developer behind all these projects, and that matters to understand what follows. (1/4)
@arretsurimages
